Armchair ” Tulip ” by Eero Saarinen – Cod. 1268

The project for this session began in 1953 thanks to the work of Eero Saarinen . It is part of the “Pedestal” collection.

The designer focuses on minimizing the size of the leg and creates a seat with plastic but sinuous shapes.

The armchair is swivel 360′ and the base is made of white painted aluminum, while the body is in ABS.

Being Saarinen a sculptor, as well as an architect, he made scale models and clay tests to verify their proportions and maximum stability, despite the slender stem of the base.

He studied this model in various declinations and uses… chair without armrests, with armrests (see image), stool and table – in various shapes and dimensions.

Very significant objects from the history of Modern Design remain today.

Produced by Knoll International – Original vintage, excellent condition.
