Like many of Borge Mogensen’s most famous pieces, C18 is inspired by the coherent and functional style, and in particular the traditional furniture of American Shaker culture. With C18, Mogensen has refined the proportions, details and construction of the Shaker’s design, adapting it to the Danish house. Typical for Mogensen’s work, this table was produced in beech and oak, the local Danish woods that he favoured most.

The result is a simple design, with Nordic shades, robust in use and durability. The properties of solid wood are essential to the project itself, and it is refined in its finish and construction.

C18 was part of a furniture program that Mogensen created for the Society in Denmark in 1940. Mogensen’s ambition was to spread the ideas of functionalism and create quality furniture for everyone. With C18, he succeeded in this ambition and thanks to his timeless design.
