The 45 chair by Finn Juhl – FJ 4500

In the autumn of 1945, Finn Juhl presented Chair 45 at the annual exhibition of the Cabinetmakers’ Guild (reissued since 2003).
Today the chair is regarded as one of the most revolutionary and iconic pieces of Danish design.
Finn Juhl dreamed of studying art history and his profound knowledge of international contemporary art is evident in the bold 45 Chair.
The chair is made of oak or walnut and upholstered in fabric or leather.
In the 45 Chair, the space between the frame and the seat creates a lightness that, combined with the organic form and sublime details, guarantees a unique beauty and floating elegance.

Moreover, the 45 Chair was called ‘the mother of all modern chairs’ by the Japanese professor and design collector Noritsugu Oda.

The innovative 45 Chair became the prelude to the unfolding of Finn Juhl’s characteristic design style that we know from the late 1940s.

A true design icon, a representative fusion of ergonomic seating and aesthetic lines of pure beauty.
