The Japan Chair by Finn Juhl – FJ 5301

Designed in 1957 and relaunched in 2019, the ‘Japan chair’ is another example of pure design.
Once again, one can see the intention to separate the backrest from the supporting frame, in this case by means of brass brackets.

The Japan Chair is defined by its elegant structure, visible from every angle.
Simplicity in its most refined form.

Finn Juhl’s collaboration with furniture manufacturer France & Son resulted in a series of furniture suitable for industrial production, while remaining true to the ideals of organic forms and simple designs.
The most famous example of this collaboration is probably the Japan series from 1957, consisting of a lounge chair, a footstool, a two-seater sofa and a three-seater sofa.
